    Applied EHS Management, Inc. Environmental, Health and Safety specialists have up to 30 years of experience in industry and consulting developing and implementing all manner of EH&S programs at operating industrial and governmental facilities and remediation sites. Applied EHS offers clients the benefit of proven EHS experience, multidisciplinary capabilities, and a network of offices and resources nationwide. From compliance to management oversight and field implementation, our staff has the skill, training and experience to develop and implement effective EHS programs for your organization or facility. Services range from on-site "EHS Managers" to delivering specific project tasks on time and on budget.

    Process Safety / Risk Management

    Applied EHS provides complete capabilities in meeting your risk management needs. We can assist in complying with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Programs (RMP) regulations (40 CFR Part 68) as well as state programs such as California Accidental Release Prevention (CalARP) regulations (CCR Title 19, Division 2, Chapter 4.5). Applied EHS staff was developing Risk Management Plans (RMPlans) and Programs for compliance with state regulations and for voluntary industry programs for more than ten years before the EPA RMP rule. Our staff participated in EPA working groups reviewing industry-specific Model RMPs and developed one industry-wide Model RMP. Our staff has served as instructors on PSM, RMP, Process Hazard Analysis and Security Vulnability Analysis courses for national organizations as well as for our clients. This experience provides an in-depth understanding of the requirements, and the critical issues.

    Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems

    Progressive organizations use them to connect planning, implementation, measurement, and performance improvement; manage EHS risks; and fulfill EHS goals. EPA and many States encourage their development by recognizing their benefits in enforcement planning and providing relief from monetary penalties on self-identified problems. OSHA agrees that effective management is a decisive factor in reducing the extent and the severity of work-related injuries and illnesses. It also improves employee morale and productivity, as well as significantly reduces workers' compensation costs and other less obvious costs of work-related injuries and illnesses.

    Applied EHS personnel have extensive experience including developing EHS Management Systems for mature manufacturers with over 20 plants, government agencies with over 6,000 employees and multi-billion dollar startup/spinoffs enterprises with no existing EHS systems. Our approach is flexible. We can incorporate functional management system elements already in place and adjust to meet your specific needs and organizational objectives.
     

    Environmental Compliance

    Our personnel have extensive experience and a quality track record in providing environmental management services to a full range of industrial/government facilities. Experience includes audits; air, water, wastewater, and hazardous waste permitting; routine compliance submittals (e.g., Title V quarterly/semi-annual/annual reports, DMRs, Tier IIs, TRI Reports, Annual Emission Inventories, etc.); tank registration/reports; and process design/evaluation. We are active in industry and trade associations to ensure that we stay up-to-date on the latest requirements and management techniques.
     

    Health and Safety Services

    Applied EHS has provided a full range of Health and Safety services to industrial/government facilities. Experience includes audits; OSHA NOV response/corrective action; safety program development and implementation; training; noise and chemical/dust exposure assessments; code compliance assessments; equipment-specific lockout tagout "Energy Control Procedures"; PPE assessments; Job-Safety Analyses; Respirator Program reviews; Confined Space classification; Ergonomics assessments; radiation hazard assessments; etc. Staff have served on or chaired AWWA committees on H&S, Security and Hazmat as well as being active in other industry and trade associations.
     

    Environmental and Risk Management Modeling/Hazard Assessment

    Applied EHS personnel have conducted modeling for determining the fate of raw materials, products or stack gases in the environment and their potential effect on employees or the public. Our services include: Accidental release/routine air emission source estimation, Accidental release and routine emission source modeling, Groundwater modeling and Stormwater modeling. Applied EHS staff understand the uses and limitations of the EPA Model RMPlans, industry-developed Model RMPlans and the EPA guidance for conducting offsite consequence analyses (OCA). We have completed numerous accidental release consequence assessments and understand when it is appropriate to apply the simpler vs. more sophisticated methods.
     

    Remediation

    Applied EHS personnel are experienced in a wide range of remediation efforts from routine removal actions to decontamination to demolition to major remediation projects (also see PCB in Caulk). We have Superfund, RCRA Corrective Action and state/voluntary program remediation experience. We can provide remedial design and implementation services including Environmental Site Assessments, Hydrogeological analyses, Geotechnical evaluations, Work/QAP/H&S Plans, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Public Meetings/Outreach, Remediation System Design, Permitting, Construction, Construction Management, Remediation O&M, Re-Assessment of Remedy, Progress Assessment, Technical Oversight/Owner's Representative, Litigation Support and Community Relations.
     

    Pollution Prevention (P2), Design for Environment (DfE), and Sustainability

    Applied EHS personel have been working throughout their careers to reduce or eliminate waste, emissions, wastewater, energy consumption and greenhouse gases at the source by modifying production processes, assessing non-toxic or less-toxic substances, implementing conservation techniques, and re-using or recycling materials rather than putting them into the waste stream. Our personnel can provide cost-effective solutions that make sense for the environment and your business. Applied EHS can work with you to complete carbon footprint analysis/inventories/action plans, develop effective P2 and DfE programs, conduct P2/waste minimization assessments, develop Design for Environment tools, conduct pollution control feasibility studies and engineering for process design.
     

    Due Diligence Services

    EHS due diligence helps you to avoid unforeseen liabilities associated with property/business acquisitions. Applied EHS offers broad regulatory expertise to conduct EHS due diligence assessments to identify potential environmental liabilities and health and safety compliance exposures associated with the acquisition, leasing and/or divestiture of real properties and businesses. Applied EHS can provide rapid and thorough Enterprise Acquisition Support, Staffing/Organization Assessments, Life Cycle Cost Projections, Phase I/II/III Env. Assessments, Project/Facility Turnover Plans.
     

    Applied EHS prepares RMPs with the sensitivity to public awareness/security issues and the needs of your organization as well as the regulatory requirements. Applied EHS can prepare your Program or Plan, conduct audits and independent reviews, complete 5 year PHA/RMP updates or assist you with specialized needs, including consequence assessment modeling and emergency response plan development.
     

    Emergency Management

    Applied EHS provides complete capabilities in meeting your emergency management needs. We can assist in preparing Emergency Response Plans, Evacuation Plans, Dam Emergency Plans, SPCCs, Contingency Plans, Disaster Recovery Plans, Crisis Management Plans and Integrated Contingency Plans. We understand the complexity of overlapping and competing regulations (e.g., FERC, state dam rules, petroleum, hazardous waste, OSHA Hazwoper, OSHA evacuation, water supply, tanks, RMP, etc.) and excel at advising our clients of the best strategy emergency planning for them.
